ABSTRACT

The rising number of cases of gruesome acid attack in India with a recent one being added in the December of 2022 cleared the view that though amendments and provisions have been made we still far away from this heinous crime. The case of a young girl named Laxmi gained prominence, but there lives a Laxmi in every nook and corner of the streets. The 2013 amendment added Acid Attack as a grievous act but still concentrated acid is being sold in shops without proper documentation. Its high time we call for a ban on these marketing schemes and put an end to the means. The short article is written with the aim of throwing light on these burning issues that have created fear among the citizens especially women and give way for laws that will deliver justice and put an end to this atrocious practice.
