Challenges Women Face In Securing Safe Educational Environment In India

ABSTRACT


In India, women face significant challenges in securing a safe and supportive educational environment. Key issues include harassment, male chauvinism, and sexual violence, which undermine their educational experiences and opportunities. Despite legal measures such as the Protection of Human Rights Act (1993), the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (2013), and the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act (2013), implementation remains inadequate. Recent high-profile cases of sexual violence highlight the urgent need for more effective enforcement of these laws. Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive strategies, including awareness programs, robust complaint mechanisms and enhanced support services. Ensuring a safe educational environment for women in India is crucial for fostering equality and empowering future generations.
