ABSTRACT
It has been centuries since hate crime has been one of the prominent colors of India and continues even today. It has been passed on to generations, and everyone just accepted it. The term is connected with the crime committed toward particular religious groups. With the advancement in global knowledge and technological availability, the people should welcome change and embrace every religion. Yet, it is still unseen. No particular group is forwarding a hand in a country like India, where there is no specific religion but a plethora of different communities that have come together. The hate towards other religions should be seriously considered, laws that are already existing should be used better, and new regulations shall be created under them. The people sworn in to protect the nations from worldly threats are somehow responsible for the hate brewing inside the countries yet do not have a stance on it. The occurrences of vigilantism and crowd lynching were a token of the profound social cleavages in our general public. They additionally, before long, uncovered the constraints in the criminal equity framework. Pundits and activists noticed the disappointment of the police getting control over the culprits. They also noted the tremendous costs of this violence for the victims and survivors and the social fabric. This research paper will show the increase in hate crime over the years and what has been done to curb it. The paper will also find the lacunae in existing laws and give a constructive solution.
