ABSTRACT
Radioactive materials consist of chemical, radiological and physical traits which are especially hazardous to the environment and human health. Though, commercial, medical and industrial benefits cannot be ignored. Implementing the correct balance of the beneficial uses of radioactive material, the resultant positive impacts on society, and the inherent dangers of using this material is a constantly evolving process that is played out in individual communities, regions, and countries around the world. This paper analyses how radioactive materials are governed under the international legal regime and prime focus of the paper is transportation of the radioactive materials and what are the risks are associated with the transportation. Though there are abundance of research is available on the topic but transportation of radioactive through legal lenses is very less discussed in the literature. This paper analyses the IAEA regulation transportation under various modes.
