Divine Justice: The Intersection Of Law And Religious Morality

M Anantha Krishnan, Christ University, Bangalore

ABSTRACT

It is a well-known fact that justice is related to God, to law, and to the moral base of a domain. The objective of this paper is to analyze how different cultures define justice and how these notions of justice affect modern-day cultures. In terms of data collection the study used a qualitative approach conducting a content analysis of such documents as religious literature, legislative tools and processes, and practical cases from court. The conclusions reached are that there exists confluence between notions of divine justice and rule of law, even though the admixture does not always lead to peaceful co-existence of all that is conceptualized. This paper makes a case for justice to be understood in its many forms through the incorporation of all forms of morality within a multi-ethnic society.

Keywords: divine justice, legal expression, societal stability, multi-ethnic societies.
