Adwitiya Jaiswal & Ananta Patra, BA LLB, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar

ABSTRACT

India is continuously slipping in World Democracy Ranking since 2014. The Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) 2020 Democracy Index showed a decline from the 27th position it had in 2014 to 53rd position. According to V-Dem’s Democracy Report 2022 India is on 93rd rank in the world which puts question on the biggest democracy in the world. India’s changing nature from democracy to electoral autocracy or partly free or flawed democracy has been described in recent rankings on globally recognized reports.
