Gaurav Kumar Meena, Law-Centre 1, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi

ABSTRACT

In recent years, there has been legal recognition for the LGBTQ+ community in India, yet societal acceptance remains a challenge. This paper aims to illuminate the current situation regarding the hurdles and advancements in LGBTQ+ rights within the country. Despite improved legislation, prejudiced attitudes persist, presenting ongoing challenges for LGBTQ+ individuals, including violence, discrimination, and familial issues. Additionally, this paper proposes practical solutions, such as education, awareness campaigns, legal reforms, enhanced healthcare, and community support, to ensure the equal respect of rights for all, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
