Homosexuality As A Liberal Concept In An Indian Political Context - Hierarchical Or Not?

Manya Gupta, O.P. Jindal Global University

ABSTRACT

Homosexuality remains a debatable topic in India which always requires some new dimension of ideas to be incorporated. Even after years of struggle homosexuality is still seen as a taboo and an alien concept though there is some acceptance seen in the past recent years. It has some unexplored areas which need to be dealt with but are not known to the general public. This article highlights why homosexuality is considered to be a liberal and western concept in India and how it is political and hierarchical in nature where some sections among the LGBTQIA+ are capable to overpower the other ones and use it to dominate the ideas of those groups by generalizing it as ideas of the whole community. This further contributes to deepen the taboo against the community.
