ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic of 2019-2020 created a global crisis that severely impacted the international shipping industry, exposing vulnerabilities and triggering cascading disruptions across supply chains, crew management, financial stability, and legal frameworks. This study undertakes a comprehensive analysis of the multifaceted effects of the pandemic on international shipping, focusing on examining the legal measures implemented to bolster the industry's resilience. This research aims to elucidate the strategies employed to navigate the crisis and foster a more resilient maritime ecosystem by investigating the challenges encountered and the subsequent adaptations in legal, operational, and technological domains. By exploring these critical developments, this study provides insights into how these adaptations may shape the future trajectory of international shipping in a post-pandemic era, offering valuable implications for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers alike.
