Legal Provisions And Rights For Protection Of Women Prisoners

ABSTRACT


Article 21 and 22 of Indian Constitution protects and safeguards the rights of convicts, under trials and offenders. The present article tries to understand Constitutional provisions along with an attempt to know about the protection of women prisoners under other legal provisions and rights. The present article is confined to only Indian law which includes Constitutional provisions of India, other laws, Committee recommendations and Rights for protections of women prisoners. This paper is divided into two parts: Firstly, the Constitutional Provisions in India. Secondly, Rights which protects the women prisoners. This article also speaks about the analysis of case laws related legal provisions and rights for protection of women prisoners in India. This paper is purely based on doctrinal research to look at the concept of rights and legal provisions for protecting women prisoners in India and tries to find out if women criminals in India have any special rights.
