ABSTRACT

With an increase of inhabitants on land each passing day the population burden on soil, air, water, and the environs is rising exponentially. While these might not be the primary causes, they act as a consequential factor in altering the natural balance of our ecosystem, ultimately increasing the risk of disasters and natural calamities such as earthquakes, drought, tsunamis, etc. Owing to the blatant ignorance of humans toward other living and non-living organisms and their thirst for self-fulfillment, they often pretermit their responsibilities and obligations towards the environment and incessantly exploit the resources, composition, and structure of our biosphere.

This flagrant disregard towards the environment has therefore resulted in a rise of natural calamities over the past 50 years with a rise in the intensity of damage but a decline in deaths1. The reason for fewer death rates is because of the elaborate and considerable disaster management strategies that are being introduced and established by the government, individuals, and communities. One cannot entirely estimate the grave consequences of disasters but with the help of various disaster management measures lessen its impact on the living and non-living.

A community must always be prepared to face the perils of a natural disaster. The aftermath of such calamities is far worse than the factor that contributed to it and that is where disaster management plays a considerable role in ameliorating the reverberations of lethal catastrophes.
