Online Harassment On Social Media Platforms: Exploring Policies, Reporting Mechanisms, And Effectiveness

ABSTRACT


The present paper focuses on this topic of online harassment on social media platforms, with the goal of understanding how these platforms handle and address this issue. In order to address user-reported cases of harassment, social media companies have put in place policies and mechanisms that are examined in the study and assesses how effective these policies are at preventing and addressing online harassment. The research paper also examines the reporting options offered by social media platforms and evaluate how user-friendly and beneficial they are for those who are the targets of harassment. Throughout the research, the challenges and limitations faced by social media platforms in implementing and enforcing their policies are explored. In light of the findings, the article makes suggestions to increase the effectiveness of policies and reporting procedures in combating online harassment. These proposals include cooperating with external organizations specialized in addressing harassment complaints and using advanced technology to detect dangerous content more efficiently. The ultimate goal is to make the internet environment safer and more supportive for all users. In conclusion, this research sheds light on the concerning issue of online harassment, offering insights into the policies and reporting mechanisms employed by social media platforms, and providing practical recommendations to make the online space more secure and enjoyable for everyone.
