Revolutionizing Labour Legislation: Understanding The Code On Wages, 2019

Diksha Rao, CHRIST (deemed to be) University, Pune, Lavasa Campus

ABSTRACT

The Code on Wages, 2019 is an Act that unifies, streamlines, and rationalizes the provisions of the four labour laws currently in effect with regard to Equal Remuneration, Bonus Payment, Minimum Wages, and Payment of Wages. This page outlines the significant modifications made to the applicability, reach, and enforcement of the four wage laws that are now in effect and that the Code on Wages, 2019 has repealed and subsumed. In order to achieve this, the primary provisions examined in this work are the essential definitions, laws concerning the inspection; mechanisms for adjudication; offenses and punishments; and additional newly added provisions to the Code on Wages, 2019.
