ABSTRACT
Same sex marriages have been considered a vital issue globally. This makes it essential to understand the impact of these marriages in Indian society because not only impact the couple but also whole society. This article has discussed a brief history of same sex marriages and its legal status in India. The author observes that it is essential to recognise same sex marriages in modern India because this will bring about much needed social change. Social change also becomes a base for changing legislations which can only be brought about by understanding the customs and updating the customs with time. This step will also lead to proper structural changes and equality gender minorities.
