INTRODUCTION TO MAHABHARATA

“The Mahabharata is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of the ancient India. It is an epic legendary narrative of the core war and the fates of the Kauravas and Pandavas. It contains Philosophical and Devotional materials. It is an important source of information on the development of Hinduism between 400 BCE and 200 CE” (Doniger, 2020). Vyasa, himself was a character within the epic and is said to have been the composer of it. The epic was in line with tradition and he determined the verses of it following up to this, Ganesha wrote them down. At 100,000 verses, it is the longest epic ever written, typically thought to possess been composed within the fourth century BCE or earlier. The events within the epic play enter the Indian landmass and close areas. The epic is long enough and is roughly seven times the length of Iliad and Odyssey together and is approximately 15 times the length of the Bible. The story covers various generations in it.
