The Dire Need For Menstrual Leave Policy

ABSTRACT

This article aims to provide a detailed view concerning the current scenario regarding why the menstrual leave policy must be implemented. Menstruation refers to the natural change that occurs in the female reproductive system. It shall throw light upon various benefits of the implementation of the above policy. It also focuses on the bills regarding this pending in the Lok Sabha and refers to few case laws. This is followed by the scientific and legal aspects as well as the critical aspects such as the hiring bias and remuneration gap of the policy as well. The author has outlined the various countries that have implemented this policy and will also reflect on the history of India with the concept of menstrual leave since various companies and schools have incorporated this into their existing framework of guidelines. Finally, concludes by stating how as a national policy, this shall benefit the people.
