War Veterans And Culpability In Cases Of Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder

Ishaan Deepak Joshi, MIT-WPU, Faculty of Law

ABSTRACT

Physical symptoms may accompany the psychological signs of PTSD. Diabetes, cancer, as well as heart disease can be caused by psychological issues such as anxiety, melancholy, and substance misuse. It has been determined that 85 PTSD the victims have worse physical well-being and greater mortality rates compared to individuals lacking PTSD. It was also discovered that veterans with PTSD had less resistance to injuries and maladies.8 PTSD caused by combat is particularly challenging. PTSD exacerbates the physical injuries suffered by many veterans upon their return. In accordance to the Institutes for Prevention and Control of Diseases, all PTSD sufferers are prone to physical manifestations such as vertigo, nausea, insomnia, sleep disturbances, and irregular appetite. Stress is the underlying cause of both PTSD and chronic fatigue syndrome, making both conditions susceptible to stress-related onset.

According to an investigation into PTSD offenders, those with additional signs were more likely to commit violent as well as sexual assaults. As veterans develop antisocial behaviour, which frequently includes criminal behaviour, exhaustion and denial are especially accommodating. A study of UK military soldiers in Afghanistan & Iraq found a correlation among violent illicit conduct and hyper-arousal among PTSD-afflicted personnel.
