Summary of Karnataka Incident:-
Karnataka has banned Muslim female students from wearing hijabs in schools and colleges, sparking a Hijab[2] Blow issue in the state since last month. The dispute has now grown so large that it has engulfed even major parties. The BJP and the Congress are vehemently opposed to each other, with the former backing the Hijab ban and the latter defending Muslim girls. The Hijab Blow has resulted in widespread lathi charges and student fury for equality throughout the state.[3] A Hijabi girl withstood a crowd of slogan-shouting boys with saffron shawls on February 8, 2022 in Mandya, later claiming that she had the backing of her peers across religious lines as well as the college authority. Authorities at a junior college in coastal Udupi were forced to ask all students to leave after a surge of boys and girls wearing saffron shawls and headwear, as well as a heated conflict with hijabi girls demonstrators.[4]
