ABSTRACT

This study examines the critical issue of the judicial response towards offences against women with a large number of socio-legal consequences. After an exhaustive review of landmark cases, laws, academic works of prominent academicians in the field of law, and statistical data, the analysis of the researchers provides a number of multifaceted challenges and complexities surrounding the treatment of offences against women in the legal system. The main aim of this research is to evaluate the efficacy and fairness of the judicial response to various offences against women such as dowry death, cruelty, sexual harassment, rape, acid attacks, etc. Important findings from this study highlight the importance of a victim- centric approach to judicial responses which indicates the need for legislation that prioritizes the rights and welfare of survivors, thereby promoting an environment where women can seek justice and security without fear of prejudice or retaliation. This study also lays an emphasis on the influence of societal attitudes, gender norms and cultural factors on the outcomes of legal proceedings, laying a foundation for holistic interventions that address these issues. The research study also emphasizes the importance of advocating, reforming policies, and multidisciplinary work in promoting positive changes in the judicial system. It promotes expanded training and awareness programmes for judges, lawyers, and law enforcement officers in order to improve their sensitivity to gender-related issues and ability to give impartial solutions. Ultimately, this study adds to our knowledge of the complex issues surrounding the judicial response towards the crimes committed against women. It promotes continued effort to develop legal frameworks, challenge societal norms, and establish an effectively fair and secure justice system for women’s rights. Furthermore, our research seeks to stimulate real changes by establishing an environment free of fear, discrimination, and violence for women.
