ABSTRACT

Gender justice is not a new concept in India. Women have faced gender discrimination and disparities in every area of their life. Women endure prejudice in a variety of sectors even in the current period. They are frequently subjected to inequity in numerous sectors and continue to confront challenges such as sexual harassment, forced prostitution, dowry, and many more. Transgender persons face severe prejudice and are denied their basic human rights as a third gender. However, the Indian Constitution included particular measures and legislation to eliminate the notion of gender inequity in socioeconomic, political, legal, and other aspects of life. The purpose of this article is to critically assess the constitutional clause pertaining to gender equality as well as to analyse the general challenges and problems that women and the third gender confront in society.
