ABSTRACT
This abstract embarks on a comprehensive exploration of the complex terrain surrounding the imposition of penalties for transgressions involving domestic animals. The intention behind the punishment of offenses against domestic animals is to serve as a deterrent against cruelty and to ensure the animals' well-being. The primary aim of this research is to investigate whether the punitive measures for offenses against animals should mirror those for offenses against humans. The research methodology predominantly relies on a descriptive sampling approach. Notably, the study reveals that 58% of respondents advocate for uniform provisions for both animals and humans in terms of punishment. Moreover, a significant majority of 62.9% concur that punishment should be applied to those who commit offenses against animals. This study not only sheds light on public sentiments regarding animal rights but also provides insights into their perspectives when confronted with violations of animals' rights. Building upon these findings, the research proposes additional considerations to enhance the efficacy of punitive measures and contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the interconnected dynamics at play in the realm of offenses against domestic animals.
