दिव्यांग – A Socio–Legal Examination of Disabled People’s Right To Represent and Be Represented in Elections

ABSTRACT

The disabled have been ostracized and stigmatized for millennia in almost all civilizations, and they constitute a segment of the population that is underserved and neglected. People with disabilities are the poorest of the poor and the weakest of the weak, and they face educational, social, and economic challenges, so their right to self-affirmation, identity, and growth is frequently denied. The individual's medical condition does not make life difficult; rather, a hostile social and physical environment excludes people with impairments from all social spheres. A disability is a condition in which an individual is unable to perform daily activities due to an impairment.

Persons with disabilities' rights and laws must be understood and studied from a variety of perspectives, including human rights and various other laws in India, which ultimately fill the differences or mitigate the gap between people with disabilities and people with different abilities in order to achieve personality and dignity in the proper sense of the word.
