ABSTRACT
Free legal aid refers to the provision of lawful help and portrayal to people who can’t stand to recruit a legal advisor or get legal administrations all alone because of monetary imperatives. Legal aid programs funded by the government, non-profit organisations, and pro bono lawyers who volunteer their services typically provide this assistance for people for free. Free legal aid in India has huge lawful ramifications and is cherished in both the Indian Constitution and different rules. Free legal aid in India isn’t simply a strategy yet a protected order pointed toward guaranteeing that equity is open to all, particularly the monetarily burdened and underestimated segments of society. It assumes an essential part in maintaining the standards of equity and equity cherished in the Indian Constitution. The main focus of this research is to know the free legal aid and its legal perspectives in India. Empirical research is followed for the purpose of the study. 204 samples were collected through a convenience sampling method. The idea of free legal aid dates back to ancient times, when the government provided free legal aid to make it easier for the poor people to go to court like rich people without any difference to seek justice. People’s confidence in the fairness of the legal system has grown as a result of free legal aid; however, the main obstacle is that people who are eligible for it are not aware of their rights or the resources they have at their disposal. Endeavours to bring issues to light about lawful guidance can assist with guaranteeing that bringing more people, particularly the oppressed and minimised, so that they can get to the legitimate help they expect to look for equity and safeguard their privileges.
