ABSTRACT

Federalism is the distribution of power within an organisation or, it is a type of government in which, the power is not only vested in the central government but rather, divided or shared among all the other governmental units. Separation of powers is the distribution of the powers among the different units of the government. Indian federalism is considered to be unique because it is not a pure form of federalism but rather is a combination of different polities. That is the reason for calling Indian Federalism a sui generis federalism as it does not conform to one particular form of federalism and the same does not exist in any country and nor has it been attempted either.
