ABSTRACT:

The role of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) towards sustainable development has become increasingly important in recent years, as the world faces growing challenges. IPR refers to the legal rights that protect the creations of the human mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols and designs used in commerce. These rights are designed to encourage innovation and creativity by providing incentives for individuals and organizations to invest in the development of new technologies, products, and services. Sustainable development, on the other hand, refers to development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. There is a growing recognition of the need to balance the protection of IPR with the need to promote access to important technologies and knowledge, particularly in areas such as healthcare and agriculture. By providing legal protection for inventions and other forms of intellectual property, IPR can help to ensure that innovators are able to reap the benefits of their investments in research and development, which can in turn encourage further innovation and creativity. Governments, international organizations, and the private sector have a critical role to play in promoting the role of IPR towards sustainable development. By creating policies and initiatives that support innovation and access to important technologies, while also addressing concerns around IPR and its potential negative impacts, we can work towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
