ABSTRACT

Juvenile delinquency is one of the major issues of our society. An unlawful or delinquent act done by a juvenile i.e, minor child is called as a juvenile delinquency. A juvenile delinquent is a young offender who is under 18 years of age. It is a general acceptance that the mind of minor child is under developed it means a minor does not have enough maturity to understand the nature of their act. Although there are so many instances come where we have seen severe criminal acts done by a minor children like as a major person. Because of this fact for some heinous offences such as; rape the minimum liability age for a person is decreased from 18 to 16 years. But it is seen that the decrease of majority age to ensure punishment for heinous offences done by minor does not seem to be an effective solution of the problem of juvenile delinquency. The surprising thing is that the problem of juvenile delinquency is increasing day by day. In this study we analyze some important theories of juvenile delinquency that helps to create a clear understanding about the causes of delinquent behaviors of minors that helps to come out on some effective solutions. Before starting a discussion, we should be noted that every theory is equally important to understand the causes of juvenile delinquency.
