Apoorva Shetty, LLM (Business and Trade Law), Karnataka State Law University, Hubbali

ABSTRACT

Transgender persons who are actively engaged in sex work and also often seen begging at traffic lights, train stations, temples, etc. frequently face discrimination and harassment in every sphere of life thereby causing violation of their fundamental rights. Transgender persons are denied their basic human rights and continue to live a life filled with agony and despair despite numerous international guidelines, constitutional protections, the landmark NALSA decision, and an exclusive legislation called The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 for their protection.

Keywords: Transgender, Discrimination, Violence, Legislation.
