ABSTRACT

Technology invention which moulded the civilization of human kind has reached to its greater extent with the advent of internet. Now there is no one who are not into the world of internet. Either directly or indirectly, all are using internet. Due to the internet, social media platforms emerged and became a part and parcel of everyone’s life. Social media has its own pros and cons. Along with the benefits, the number of people who got affected by the social media crimes increased day by day. So there emerged a need for legislating laws for social media regulation which created cyber law having scope for social media crimes. But the purpose of legislation is fulfilled or people can avail justice only when people are made aware of laws. So knowledge of social media user about cyber laws is very important so that the person can use social media securely. This article mainly focuses on problems arising out of social media and need for cyber law in that area and remedies provided by law and more importantly on the significance of knowledge of the user that there exists a law which prevents or provide remedies to him from social media crimes. As technology is evolving newly day by day, laws also must be at par with technological advancement. The present cyber laws on social media are not covering all the issues which are happening in present world, so there is a need to amend laws which involves and provide remedies to all issues.
