Analysis Of Disability Laws And Policies In South Asia

ABSTRACT

Disability, whether physical or mental, has emerged throughout centuries and has been perceived as a universal issue affecting millions of people worldwide across the globe. Its reach is not restricted to any specific gender or class. The aim of the paper is to acquire knowledge about the paradigm shift in understanding of the concept and laws concerning disability in India. Disability is defined as sensory or physical inadequacy that interrupts with individual normal functioning.

An effort has been made to examine and decipher disability through its associated models. The paper would also unfold a comparative study to comprehend the regulations and enactments concerning disability in India and Nepal. A critical approach is undertaken to understand the formulation and execution of these laws. At last, suggestions and recommendations on the existing laws and constitutional enactments corresponding to disability in India and Nepal.
