ABSTRACT
The exponential growth of artificial intelligence technologies presents a fundamental challenge to contemporary legal systems worldwide. This paper examines the complex relationship between AI advancement and human rights protection, analyzing how legal frameworks must evolve to address unprecedented technological capabilities while safeguarding fundamental freedoms. Through examination of international legal instruments, regional regulatory approaches, and emerging jurisprudential trends, this study identifies critical gaps in current legal protections and proposes a balanced framework that promotes innovation while preserving human dignity. The research reveals that existing human rights law, while foundational, requires substantial adaptation to address AI-specific challenges including algorithmic bias, automated decision-making, and digital surveillance. The paper concludes with recommendations for legal reform that prioritize human-centered AI development within a rights-based governance structure.
