INTRODUCTION


Though individual with disabilities forms a part and parcel of the general society, they have been ostracized in many occasions. One of the main reason could be the difficulties in understanding and interpreting the communication skills of individual with disabilities. Judiciary is not an exception to this. There are many instances wherein, the Indian Judiciary faced dilemma in considering the credibility of a witness who is an individual with disabilities. Recently, the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India delivered a judgment in Patan Jamal Vali v. The State of Andhra Pradesh in which the Apex Court pronounced guidelines to make the criminal justice of the nation more disabled friendly.
