ABSTRACT
While the commercialization of biotechnological inventions opens up valuable opportunities, it also brings complex legal, ethical and socioeconomic challenges. In this paper the researcher seeks to highlight concerns related to the harmonization of technical standards, environmental sustainability, public health implications, ethical issues associated with genetic manipulation, equitable benefit sharing of genetic resources, socioeconomic impacts on smallholder farmers and the likelihood of concentration of corporate control within the global food system. The findings of this research paper show that genetically engineered biotechnological products are located at the intersection of scientific development, legal regulation, environmental protection and economic interests. It is necessary to create a strong environmental safeguard mechanism to align biotechnological inventions with sustainable development Goals, efficient equitable benefit-sharing mechanisms and participation of the interest of the all stakeholders including custodians of the natural resources.
