Gayatri Mandar Kulkarni, Symbiosis Law School, Pune

ABSTRACT

A professional work environment in today’s constantly developing and changing world has encouraged and been positively adapted by the employees. The nature of labour is always changing due to technological improvements. Markets expand, companies adopt new industrial techniques, and society advances. Generally speaking, technology creates new opportunities and makes it possible to produce more goods and services as well as deliver effective public services.

Dysmenorrhea1, generally known as period cramps is a common condition that women face during their monthly menstrual cycle. According to the National Library of Medicine, most girls and women experience period pain of different intensity at some time during their cycle. One to three days every month, 10 out of 100 women have discomfort that prevents them from performing their normal daily tasks.2

Introduction: Contemporary Relevance of the Topic: Should Menstrual Leave be Necessary in India?

The Judiciary in the country has taken several major steps towards a progressive mindset giving women their rights through various cases over the years. However, the government still pays very little attention to the sexual and reproductive rights of women. In India, only specific concerns like child marriage, female foeticide, sex discrimination, and menstrual health and hygiene difficulties are acknowledged concerning reproductive rights.
