Concerns Related To Cybersquatting: A Study

ABSTRACT

The rate at which cyber-related crimes are growing is a major concern all over the world. The law regulating this type of crime is also not stringent & the rate of conviction in such crimes are extremely low. One of the crimes that are prevalent in the present scenario is Cybersquatting. This paper revolves around the corners of cyber-squatting & focuses on what cybersquatting means & how it is emerging. This paper also addresses that how the present legislature is helping to cater the problems of cyber- squatting and what is the position in other countries for instance the United States. It also focuses on the issue that how can registrar of Domain Name can play an active role in countering the problems of cyber-squatting & what liabilities can be assigned on the registrar in such cases. There are various ways in which cybersquatting is generally committed & the same need to be looked into to have the better understanding of the cyber-squatting & to frame laws regarding them. The paper also focuses on the latest Information Technology Rules 2021 and also talks about the liability of intermediaries.
