Ruchi Makhija, Nakul Rai Khurana & Simar Sharma, O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat

ABSTRACT

This paper examines corporate lobbying, highlighting its potential benefits, such as informed policymaking and regulatory stability, while emphasizing the pressing need for regulation in India. Ethical lobbying can foster transparency and contribute to well-informed regulations that align with societal objectives. However, the absence of comprehensive regulation in India has led to concerns about unethical practices and blurred lines between lobbying and corruption. Lessons from global models, like the United States and Canada, underscore the importance of clear definitions and regular reporting. The proposed Disclosure of Lobbying Activities Bill in India represents a significant step toward regulation, emphasizing transparency and accountability.
