Covid 19 And Sports: It’s Impact, And An Uphill Task To Overcome The Challenge

ABSTRACT:


The Novel Coronavirus disease or Covid-19 as called by the world bought the entire world to a standstill. The sporting events all around the globe had to be called off immediately. The authors in the present article have broadcasted the impact of the virus on the World of Sports and the challenges faced by it. However the problem of Coronavirus was not limited to the stoppage of games. There are several monetary, mental and health issues faced by the Sports Governing Bodies and the Players. Sports are a religion to many and one cannot imagine a world without sports and therefore the biggest sufferers were the fans at large. The Authors in the present Article have highlighted the various issues i.e. monetary and mental issues faced by the Sports Governing bodies, players and the fans by highlighting the sports such as football and cricket in the Indian Ecosystem. After several challenges, the sports world continued the uphill task to normality and implemented the crucial concept of Bio Bubble however it did not prevent the virus from entering the bubble, which lead to cancellation of various events. Concluding the Article, the authors have suggested and considered a situation of the Board of Control for Cricket in India providing rules and regulations to be laid down for prevention of the outbreak of virus, preventing bio bubble fatigue and overall a smooth functioning of the game. The Rules and Regulations may be followed by different sporting bodies around the globe.
