ABSTRACT


Forensic science plays an imperative role in the criminal justice system as it evidently provides scientific analysis and evidence to cushion the investigation and prosecution of crimes. In recent years, India has witnessed significant advancements in various forensic science disciplines, including fingerprint analysis, DNA analysis, ballistics analysis, digital forensics, toxicology, and others. However, alongside these advancements, several challenges persist, ranging from the admissibility of forensic evidence in Indian courts to the legal and ethical challenges faced by forensic scientists. This research article provides a comprehensive review of the advancements and challenges in forensic science in India, drawing upon a variety of scholarly sources, government reports, and legal analyses.
