ABSTRACT
The growth of technology has been tremendous in recent times. With the advent of technology, the information available online has been created, shared, and consumed differently by a huge number of people1. It has given scope for more online copyright infringement. This paper aims to investigate the scope of online redressal of infringement of copyright in India. The paper has found that online redressal of infringement of copyright has been inadequate currently and this paves way for more research and suggestions to cure this inadequacy. Greater collaboration between stakeholders is in high need. Copyright infringement in the digital age has become a pervasive issue, primarily due to the ease of sharing and disseminating content online. This research paper explores the challenges and mechanisms associated with online redressal of copyright infringement. It highlights the significance of effective copyright protection in the digital realm and the evolving legal and technological tools available to address infringement. The existing technological solutions like digital watermarking, though effective, need more research regarding their feasibility and effectiveness. The recommendations this study would suggests include increasing awareness regarding copyright laws and further implementing stricter penalties and technological advancement. National and international copyright laws provide the foundational framework for addressing infringement. These laws enable copyright holders to file takedown notices, cease and desist letters, or initiate legal action against infringers. Digital fingerprinting technologies, content recognition algorithms, and anti-piracy software have been developed to detect and combat copyright infringement. Online platforms, such as YouTube and social media networks, often employ automated content identification systems to help copyright holders protect their works. Beyond the traditional legal route, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms have gained prominence. Online mediation and arbitration platforms offer a more cost-effective and expedited means of resolving copyright disputes. This analysis has been done by using the doctrinaire methodology which includes analytical, descriptive and comparative methods.
