ABSTRACT


Land ceiling is to restrain the limit the size of landholdings of the individuals the main focus is to reduce the income disparity and increase productivity for this the government introduced the legislation in the official gazette where every state has its own ceiling limit size so they have their own legislation and central government introduced Urban land ceiling and regulation act 1976. Fixation of land ceiling is nothing but maximum amount of ceiling an individual or family can hold. The main objective for this is to reduce the land concentration and to promote equity. This is to prevent rich people from acquiring more land. In the following context how fixation of ceiling is fixed in different states and what is the main objective of the legislation are discussed in the article.
