Domestic Violence: Forms, Causes And Its Consequences

ABSTRACT


Domestic violence is an aggressive behavior within the home involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner. In a broader sense, domestic violence also includes violence against children, parents, or the elderly. Section 498A in Indian Penal Code deals with domestic violence. This section in the IPC states that when the Husband or the relative of the husband of a woman subjects such woman to cruelty will be punished with imprisonment for a term which extends to three years and will be liable to fine. Domestic violence is a huge crime and it exists in various parts of our country. It exists in both the urban as well as the rural areas. There are various forms of domestic violence. There are various causes of domestic violence as well. This paper deals with the various forms of domestic violence. It also deals with the causes of domestic violence. It also handles about the consequences of domestic violence.
