ABSTRACT
The main aim of this study is to investigate how the emotional intelligence levels of mediators influence their approaches to resolving conflicts during matrimonial mediation and how this, in turn, affects the outcomes of these mediations. Emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to effectively recognize, understand, manage, and express emotions in oneself and others. The hypothesis is that mediators with higher emotional intelligence will use more empathetic and constructive conflict resolution methods, leading to more successful mediation outcomes in matrimonial conflicts.
To conduct this research, a Descriptive Research Design will be employed, which is suitable for studying the characteristics of a specific group or phenomenon. In this case, the focus is on understanding the characteristics of mediators and their conflict resolution styles in matrimonial mediation scenarios. Data collection will involve observations. First, the emotional intelligence levels of mediators will be evaluated using established emotional intelligence questionnaires. Next, observations will be carried out during actual mediation sessions to analyze how mediators handle conflicts in practice.
The findings of this study could have significant implications for the field of conflict resolution and mediation. A better understanding of the crucial role emotional intelligence plays in the mediation process can help in the effective selection and training of mediators. Moreover, the study's results may contribute to improving the success rate of matrimonial mediation and fostering more harmonious resolutions to conflicts within marriages and families.
