ABSTRACT

Environmental regulations within the framework of maritime law have emerged as a crucial tool in mitigating these challenges. International conventions and agreements, such as the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) MARPOL Convention and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), establish a legal framework for addressing environmental concerns in the maritime domain. These regulations encompass a wide range of issues, including the prevention of marine pollution, the conservation of marine resources, and the protection of vulnerable ecosystems. This also addresses on how regional organizations through regional agreements and initiatives contribute to the conservation of maritime biodiversity. The coats has been of great value and operates as the concentration of generation of commercialization for the shipping activities Biodiversity in marine ecosystems contributes to ecosystem resilience, sustains fisheries, and supports the overall health of the planet. Legal instruments like Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and regulations aimed at minimizing by catch and protecting endangered species illustrate the growing emphasis on conserving the unique biodiversity found in oceans and seas.

This paper delves into the evolving landscape of environmental regulations in maritime law and their role in safeguarding the marine environment and conserving maritime biodiversity. It examines the challenges and opportunities associated with enforcing these regulations, as well as the need for international cooperation to address global marine conservation issues. By exploring these themes, this paper highlights the essential role that environmental regulations play in balancing the interests of the maritime industry with the imperative to protect and sustain the natural resources and biodiversity of our oceans and seas.
