ABSTRACT

In the contemporary world of inter-connected and global trade relations between countries, foreign investment has become an important tool of political collaboration, joint initiatives and sharing of technology. However, aspects related to foreign investments were not welcomed as they are perceived today. The present paper is intended to portray a trajectory of ideological evolution of outlook to foreign investments in India. The paper is a useful insight to locate various milestones which India as a nation has witnessed in its way towards liberalization and globalization. A comprehensive foreign investment policy is not just a choice of best among the better but is also a serious intellectual thought to take the whole nation towards progress and prosperity. Present paper also highlights key initiatives undertaken in India to address the emergent issues relating to the policy framework of foreign investments.
