Exploring The Intersection Of Artificial Intelligence And The Law: Implications And Challenges

Pari Badaya & Chestha Chaudhary, BA LLB (Hons), Amity University, Rajasthan

ABSTRACT

The convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the legal sphere presents a dynamic landscape rife with potential and complexity. This abstract delves into the multifaceted relationship between AI and the law, highlighting key themes, implications, and challenges. AI’s integration into legal systems reshapes traditional paradigms, offering efficiency gains, datadriven insights, and novel approaches to legal analysis. From predictive analytics in case outcomes to AI-powered contract review, technology augments legal practice, altering how legal professionals operate. However, this integration is not without its hurdles. Ethical considerations, such as bias in AI algorithms and data privacy concerns, demand careful navigation. Additionally, the interpretation of AI-generated insights within existing legal frameworks poses interpretative challenges, requiring adaptation and evolution in legal reasoning. Furthermore, questions surrounding liability, accountability, and the allocation of responsibility in AI-mediated decisions remain contentious. As AI systems become increasingly autonomous, defining legal personhood and establishing liability frameworks become imperative. This abstract underscores the need for interdisciplinary collaboration between AI experts, legal scholars, ethicists, and policymakers to navigate the complex terrain at the intersection of AI and the law. Only through proactive engagement and thoughtful regulation can societies harness the transformative potential of AI while upholding fundamental legal principles and societal values.
