ABSTRACT

According to the social constructionist perspective, our understanding of the world develops in a social context and is founded on the shared assumptions we all have. Cinema is one of these institutions that influences our life and contributes to the formation of social, political, and cultural narratives. This brief article discusses the film: Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and attempts to look at it in a new light by evaluating its characters and how they move, how the roles of men and women are normalized, and how the gender role theory relates to the film. With a social constructionist and post-structural perspective, you may also analyse how an unjust system manifests itself in popular culture. It is crucial to ask questions about these images and appreciate all types of art while understanding their significance.
