I. INTRODUCTION
A. DEFINITION OF LAND RECORDS
Land records are official documents that provide detailed information about land ownership, boundaries, and use. They contain detailed information about the size and location of land parcels, as well as the history of land transactions, ownership, and use. Land records are maintained by the government at the state level in India, and they serve as a critical source of information for landowners, farmers, and other stakeholders. The accuracy and completeness of land records are essential for protecting property rights, promoting economic development, and ensuring social welfare.
Land records are typically created when land is first surveyed or transferred from one owner to another. The information contained in land records may include the names of the current and previous owners, the size and shape of the land parcel, the location of the land parcel, any easements or restrictions on the land use, and any encumbrances such as mortgages or liens.
Land records are created and maintained by various government agencies and departments across India, including the Revenue Department, Land Records Department, and Survey and Settlement Department. These departments are responsible for conducting land surveys, recording land ownership and transactions, and updating land records on a regular basis.
Land records also provide information on the type of land, soil quality, land use, and other physical characteristics of the land. This information is used for land use planning, environmental protection, and natural resource management.
