ABSTRACT
The gender dynamics within correctional facilities for both male and female convicts, as well as differences in safety, healthcare, and opportunity for rehabilitation, are the main topics of this research paper's investigation of the gender-specific issues in penitentiary administration. In order to enhance the management and results for those who are incarcerated, the study emphasises the necessity of gender-responsive methods. This study's research matter is: What are the gender-specific issues in the administration of corrections, and how might gender-responsive strategies enhance management and results for both male and female offenders? A mixed-methods approach is used to answer this question, combining qualitative reports with correctional personnel and inmates with quantitative analysis of available data on arrest rates, sentence results, and incarceration rates. Purposive sampling will be used in the participant selection process to guarantee a varied representation of viewpoints. In order to pinpoint important themes pertaining to gender- specific problems in penitentiary administration, the data will be subjected to a thematic analysis. The results show that gender-responsive practices are necessary in the administration of corrections. These practices should address issues such as addressing safety concerns for both male and female inmates, promoting gender-sensitive staff training, enhancing opportunities for rehabilitation, improving healthcare access and services, addressing the impact of incarceration on familial roles, and reducing gender disparities in arrest and sentencing outcome.
