ABSTRACT
Women are one of the vulnerable groups in society due to historical, economic, social and cultural differences. They are at a disadvantage due to discrimination faced in all spheres, such as in the domestic environment, family, workplace, etc, because of a low-grade mindset of people in the case of women. They consider women as weak, deny them their basic rights, which ultimately makes women a vulnerable group. Time has changed a lot of things in society, but despite recognition of the rights of women in cases of equality, dignity, and freedom under international and national legal frameworks, women continue to face discrimination and are denied basic human rights today also. This research paper examines the concept of human rights, the vulnerability of women, legal frameworks under national and international views, major issues affecting women’s rights and measures for effective implementation.
