“The role of technology in the judiciary must be not just as a facilitator but as an equalizer. AI must assist, not replace human judgement.”1

As the globe is accelerating towards an era driven by artificial intelligence, India’s legal ecosystem is undergoing an impactful shift2 3. AI's integration into legal processes is now a reality, transforming how law is practiced and enforced4 5. Being a digital-first nation, India is witnessing a paradigm shift – where technology is not just a tool but a transformative pattern in legal administration6 7.

AI-powered legal research tools like Westlaw AI, Casetext CoCounsel have drastically reduced the time required to analyze statutes, case laws, and precedents. Across the globe, courts are experimenting with algorithmic8 case scheduling and document digitization. Several startups are building AI platforms for contract review, compliance automation, and client advisory services. Even the judiciary has begun adopting virtual courtroom solutions integrated with AI-based transcription, translation and judgement summarization tools.

As said, “Excess of everything is worst; even if it is best otherwise” AI revolution also comes with it’s challenges – ethical concerns, data privacy risks, algorithmic bias, and regulatory uncertainity loom large.
