Interpretation Of Law Of Succession And Inheritance Under Hindu Succession Act And Indian Succession

Suhasini Chowdhury, Tamil Nadu National Law University

ABSTRACT

This short article is a partial interpretation of the Hindu and Indian Succession Acts, focusing on key issues that are of major concern, at first glance. The article attempts to simply and break down the same with the help of extensive footnoting.

The Hindu Succession Act of 19561 and the Indian Succession Act of 1925 are both rather complex documents which leave one befuddled wondering what the text speaks of in the first place. This paper is an attempt to break it down in simpler terms about the same. The paper also allows someone to understand as to how they need to go about their own affairs in regard to succession, marriage and inheritance.
